We’ve put together these useful FAQ to help you plan your stay at The Old Farmyard:
How do I book a stay at The Old Farmyard?
Once you have selected your dates just follow the instructions to book online. We are able to hold a booking for 2 days if required; after this time you will need to secure your holiday with a 30% deposit. The final amount is due 60 days prior to your arrival date. Once your holiday is secured you’ll be able to log in to your booking and see the property address and directions, add guests’ details, choose your bed configurations, and select any extras like cots, dogs, etc.
21 days before your stay you’ll have details within your booking of how to access the property.
What if I have booked through Stay Cotswold?
Stay Cotswold have their own terms and conditions but please remember the barns are known as Coppers Barn (Embers Barn) and The Oat Barn (The Grinding Barn).
Can we have a party at The Old Farmyard?
No, we do not allow parties in either property.
Our properties are perfect for family holidays, getting togther with friends and business leadership meetings; there is plently of room to play and to eat togther.
What are your check-in times?
7 night stay: 5pm Friday to 10am Friday
3 night weekend stay: 5pm Friday to 10am Monday
4 night midweek stay: 5pm Monday to 10am Friday
We allow shorter stays and can accomodate your dates– please contact us to discuss the pricing, in general direct booking into our booking slots is the most economical way to book.
Are dogs allowed at the barns?
Yes, 2 dogs are allowed at each property at a charge of £50 per pet. Please read our Dog Rules before booking your holiday. Both gardens are fenced and dog proof but please note that the shared courtyard is not which your pet will be able to access if the doors are left open. The entrance to The Old Farmyard has electric gates which open automatically to vehicles so you will need to keep a close eye on your dog.
What kitchen facilities are there?
The kitchens are very well equipped and are user friendly for guests and, should you wish to hire them, for private caterers (see Extras). Both kitchens have 2 Bosch double electric ovens, an inset 5 burner gas hob with a wok burner, a microwave, 2 dishwashers, a US style fridge-freezer with ice maker and chilled filtered water dispenser, a large drinks fridge, a boiling water tap and a coffee machine.
There is a walk-in pantry in both of the barns, with a washing machine and tumble dryer.
Both barns have underfloor heating in the open plan living space and in the bathrooms. The bedrooms have radiators. Both have an open fire in the open plan living space – the fire will be laid and ready to light and an initial supply of logs will be left in the house. If you need any more firewood this is purchased at £15 per basket.
Do you provide cots and highchairs?
2 travel cots and 2 highchairs are available for use. You will need to request these within your booking when you have secured your holiday.
How many TVs are there at the barns?
There are Smart TVs in all bedrooms and in the living room area. You will need your own passwords to log into streaming services.
Can we play music at the barns?
You can use the Sonos sound bar in the open plan living space by connecting your own device to this, but we do not allow your own speakers or amplifying devices.
Loud music is not acceptable day or night and any music needs to be turned off after 11pm.
Is there Wifi?
Yes, we have full fibre wifi at The Old Farmyard, provided by Gigaclear, so there is good wired data connection and strong wifi throughout both barns.
Do the barns have hot tubs?
Yes, both barns have a private cedar clad electric hot tub that seats 4-6 adults - they can be booked as an extra.
The hot tubs can be used between 0930 and 2130. Guest should follow the hot tub guidance.
Do the barns have a BBQ?
Yes, there is a gas barbecue on the terrace at the back of each house. These are for use from the end of March to the end of September and gas is supplied.
Is there electric car charging at The Old Farmyard?
No, the electric car charging station has not yet been installed. There is a fast charge at Molly's diner (15 minutes drive) and slower charging in Tesco supermarket in Faringdon (5 minutes drive).
How far is it to shops and supermarkets?
The nearest town is Faringdon (5 minutes by car) which has Tesco, Lidl and Waitrose. Swindon is a 15 minute drive away and has a large Sainsburys, Wantage is 20 minutes and has a large Waitrose.
Which supermarkets deliver to the property?
All major supermarkets will deliver to The Old Farmyard. Waitrose, Tesco and Aldi are all 5 minutes away in Faringdon.
Please book your delivery slot for after your 5pm arrival and remember to put your own name and mobile number on the contact details.
Is there a good pub nearby?
Yes, we are very lucky to have The Eagle Tavern at Little Coxwell within walking distance. This is an excellent pub which serves delicious home cooked food made using local ingredients.

What is there to see and do nearby?
Absolutely loads! There are family attractions, activities, historic houses, beautiful gardens, country parks, quiet towns to browse, and of course, Oxford with its museums and sightseeing tours. Take a look at our About page and our Things To Do to find out more.
How should we leave the house after our stay?
Basically, we ask you to leave the property more or less as you found it. For details please follow this link.
Is there anything in particular we need to be aware of when we stay at The Old Farmyard?
No more than the usual rules for holiday houses! You should note the following:
- Consideration for neighbouring properties, our other barn and the village is required, therefore no noise after 11pm (music switched off).
- Guests are asked to move indoors after 10pm. Noise monitoring devices are installed in both barns to ensure these restrictions are met.
- No fireworks, sky lanterns or drones are allowed to be used at The Old Farmyard.
- No smoking is allowed in either of the barns.
